For people who live in or work in New York and need to certify multiple of their employees, these OSHA regulation instructions offer the necessary steps for compliance.
New York OSHA-approved forklift safety standards apply to workers in the private sector who locate within the state. Workers for state and local government are not covered by federal OSHA.

In order to drive a forklift in New York, it is required that each worker complete OSHA compliant training before they can legally operate one.
In New York, some employers will hire applicants without a forklift certification or previous experience. Sometimes those people are required to have their online training done before starting the job. It is recommended that you get your certification first so you can be employed more quickly, as employers sometimes use it as an evaluation of qualifications.
You do not need hands-on training to apply as a forklift operator. The hiring company will provide the necessary onboarding training and assessment of your skills.

Once you have decided to pursue a career as a New York forklift operator, the recommended next step is to enroll in the online training course. This course consists of animated training videos, quizzes and final exam required to earn your certification.

The Forklift New York course tackles 5 topics, which are all required by OSHA. These include:
Forklift operator training is a great way to learn the basics about how to operate a forklift safely. Individuals with no previous experience typically take around 2 hours, but people with prior experience can finish the course in 1 hour.
You can take the final exam as many times as you like. To earn certification, you’ll need to pass with a score of at least 70%.
After successfully passing the exam, you will be presented with an Official Forklift Certification document. The certification includes your name, completion date and certification number along with their corresponding QR code to authenticate that it’s a valid link.
